Maybe I'm just happier than I've been for a long time. Genuinely happy. But something about Central Park actually being there; being a retreat in the middle of all the steel and cement structures, makes me remember what its supposed to be like to be alive. Maybe all it takes is a little game of wiffle ball or touch football or a beautiful smiling face smiling just at me, but it really makes all the difference.

I love the fact that Central Park exists despite its surroundings. May the idea of the park, and the park itself, last forever.

A trip to the Guggenheim reminded me how much I actually like art. I don't expect to ever sell anything or end up in a museum, but I really do like making my own stuff and putting it on my wall. You can tell I'm improving too. I mean, how could I not be, this one has hands WITH fingers!

Sometimes I forget just how amazing the city is.

I gave my friend Annalisa a small look into the current work and life of Lucas Buck. In this glimpse, I took her along to a shoot in New York City's Hearst Building, a structural art work in the form of one of New York's tallest buildings with floor to ceiling prism windows which causes to illuminate each floor with all natural light. If you had to spend all day at a cold sterile desk job, this would be building of choice. After watching a little of the arrivals spectacle, we went back to the 41st floor to shoot the 4 stars of The House Bunny, Anna Faris and Rumor Willis among them. Night fell, work ended and we headed back to Brooklyn to discover a surprisingly good jazz band playing at a local bar.

I saw the whole event through her eyes and I fell in love once again with how incredible this city can be. There are so many amazing things going on all the time in one singular location that sometimes I forget how cool it is to live where I do, do what I do, and have the opportunities I have, and have taken sometimes for granted. I think I'm maturing because I'm really beginning to appreciate it all.

Lindsay est ma Traductrice! And now she is back in America. Naturally that means we would make a pyramid in her front yard before her welcome party kicks off. After being stuck in a car with four girls for a four hour drive to Baltimore AND having to listen to stories of waxings, bleachings and polishings, it only stands to reason that we would make a human pyramid immediately upon exiting that car.

Coney Island - Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest 2008

It took two transient New Yorkers to make this happen, but I finally went to Coney Island to witness the spectacle that is Nathan's 4th of July Hot Dog Eating Contest. Besides being one of thousands in the middle of a sea of sweaty people on one of the most humid days of the summer thus far; besides being jostled and shoved consistently; besides being stuck holding an unnecessarily large umbrella when it wasn't raining; besides being throughly disgusted by watching a team of people devour hot dogs for 10 minutes on stage after waiting in the afore mentioned sea of sweaty and sweating people for 3 hours; and besides listening to some Doofus rant, rave and MARRY two people in front of a mildly entertained and mostly irritable crowd, I managed to have an amazing time! I blame the Transients!

I also have a bet that in 5 years I will be taking the Doofus' job of riling up the crowd. I've never hoped to lose a bet so much.

The hot dogs were pretty amazing though.... Maybe they give Doofus his hot dogs for free?

When I took off out of Paris, the French country side was spotted with little cul-de-sacs of lights, grouping here and there. Flying into JFK is a completely different story. Once we broke cloud cover, the world below us was completely lit from the north shore of Long Island to the south where the airport is.

I've been staying in the small 'city' of Montbeliard, France to finish writing a short story of mine. This is the only time I saw this many people on the street after the sun went down. This town pretty much dies after the sun sets. Its as though, everyone else knows something that I don't, like the town is haunted or something. You even have to ring the doorbell to the only local watering hole that is still open, Le Pub. Spooky.

Mom's 51st Birthday

It was my mom's 51st birthday, so I decided to pull some strings. After a day of catching New York during the holidays, my family and I went to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. I actually really enjoyed it. I'm not usually one for dancing and I walked away in awe. Then I was able to get my mom and dad backstage for a tour by my friend Katherine the Rockette. All in all, I'd say it was a pretty successful birthday.

Bring on the Coffee

After a 22 hour shift Monday and a 13 hour shift Tuesday, I knew that I would need to turn to coffee to help me through the rest of the week. As luck would have it, the shooter I would be working with for the rest of the week was addicted to coffee. And as a rule of my own, if you're going to do something, you do it right. So naturally, I challenged him to a coffee drinking contest.

10 cups of coffee later, I lost. He drank 16 cups. You can't win a coffee drinking contest against an addict. But what you can win, and what I had won, is a mega caffeine buzz.

The next day I made it to 11 cups, and he to 15. I had lost again, but the fun was in the trying. And in watching people gape at me, thinking my heart could stop at any minute. Funny, the joke was really on them. I knew my heart was beating too fast to ever stop. Ever.

Does Fashion Ever Stop?!

This Spring Fashion Week nears the end of its run, but it seems like nothing can kill this beast. It really is an entity unto itself. Between the fist fights in the photography pit, and the unshowered, hairy photographers that huddle close together for sometimes 2 hours per show, sweating from every pore in a poorly air conditioned and poorly ventilated box, what's not to like? One day, just for spite, I think I'll get myself invited to shows simply to watch the show, not take pictures or hold a spot for a tripod. And while I'm there, I won't be able but to laugh at the idiocy that is seeping from the photography pit. Openly. Of course, I'll be drunk. Because why else would I go back to a fashion show unless I'm fucked up.

Growing up I always thought I was allergic to cats. Now, with my roomate's cat Claire, I've realized that that isn't completely true. I'm not completely allergic; we just have conflicting personalities.

Its sort of sadistic really. I mess with her, and she scratches me or runs out the door when I come home. But her favorite activity is to break my glasses. On purpose. I know its on purpose, because I've actually watched her do it. Many times.

She first sticks her head in the glass to make sure there is something in there. Then she samples it with her paw. Then she swings at it like its the bottom of the 9th with a 3 and 2 count, knocking it off of whatever surface it was on sending it shattering to the floor.

Thus I've discovered the joys of catnip and getting cats high on it. And the sadist pleasures that lie within laser pointers.

Martin Luther King Day?

Anyone would look bad next to Adriana Lima. And even though we had both been on the plane for 5 1/2 hours, I'm the only one that looks worn out.

These picture were not my idea, but I'm glad I got them with her. What I didn't expect was that after the first picture was taken, she asked if she could get one with ME. I, of course, obliged. Who am I to stand in the way of a photo opportunity like that?

Flying with Angels

Every once in a while, something happens in my life when I have to physically stop, look around, and wonder, "How did I get here?" or "Why would this happen?" Sometimes its from drinking, but most of the time its due to just plain dumb luck.

This happened again on Tuesday when I found myself on a private plane with 27 beautiful Victoria's Secret supermodels on my way to LA.

Once in LA we parted ways, the Angels for their show and my crew and I for the road. We ate dinner, made a quick family house call, and left to return for NYC all in a couple of hours.

If people ask, I'll simply tell them the truth: we hitched a ride to LA with the Angels because we wanted dinner, then we flew back. It wouldn't be the first time I went out of my way for a good meal, and hopefully won't be the last.

I was going through pictures from Joe's wedding tonight. Now that they are back from Antigua, Alyssa is indirectly bugging me for pictures, so I figured I'd go through some.

I think this one is my personal favorite. It pretty much sums up a lot of things. Let's just say, Val still isn't too happy with us for what we did to Jimmy on the night before his wedding.

If only I had gotten a picture with Alyssa the next day to show how unhappy she probably was with us the night AFTER Joe's wedding. But I really don't enjoy being kicked in certain places, and I enjoy it even less when there is a picture to remind me of it.

Sunday night in Times Square

Tonight, I shot with Entertainment Tonight in Times Square. After 8 hours of shooting with Vanessa Minnilo, the nightmare that was the Ugly Vanessa/Beautiful Vanessa hidden camera story was, hopefully, brought to a conclusion. Still, there was one point where we all, crew and Vanessa included, broke into an awful and awe-inspiring rendition of Rod Stewart's "Having a Party". It was proof that we had all reached the point of exhaustion, and that group a singalong inspired by a random moment is possibly one of the funniest things in this world. Welcome to the Party Pal.
